Wu Xiao —

Wu Xiao, a leading Chinese pianist and educator, is currently the Chair of the Piano Department, Music Middle school Affiliated to Zhejiang Conservatory of Music. After Mr. Wu studied at the Primary & Middle School affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music from 1993 to 2002 in piano performance, he was admitted to Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris in 2002 and graduated in 2004 with merit. Ranking with first prizes in 2006, he received the Degree of Master for Chamber Music at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris and the Degree of Master for piano performance at Conservastoire Regional de Rueil-malmaison.

Mr. Wu has performed many solo recitals and chamber concerts throughout Europe, America, North Africa and other regions. In addition, he was awarded the first prize at International Piano Competition in Casablanca, Morocco, the highest honor at New-born Pianists Competition (Professional Group) in Japan, and the first prize at Piano Duet Music Competition in Bordeaux.

After his study abroad, Prof. Wu returned to China and started his piano teaching career as the Chair of Piano Department at Gulangyu Piano Academy of Central Conservatory of Music. His students had won various prizes and awards in competitions both at home and abroad. In honor of his contribution in education, he was awarded the Excellent Teacher Prize and Vocational Education Promotion Prize by the Bureau of Education of Xiamen, Fujian Province in China.

In recent years, Prof. Wu has been invited to give concerts, lectures and master classes throughout the world, including Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, and Schuren International Festival in Italy, etc.. He has also been an active jury member in various piano competitions, such as Yamaha, Kawai, Steinway and Grotrian competitions, the 2nd Bastian International Piano competition and the 15th Animato International Piano Competition.
