Leonardo Colafelice, now 21 years old, in 2016 won 2nd prize at Cleveland International Competition, receiving three important special prizes too: Audience Prize, Junior Jury Prize and Russian Prize. This success followed the prizes received at the XIV Arthur Rubinstein International Competition in Tel Aviv in 2014 and at the LX Busoni International Competition in Bolzano in 2015 and the first prizes in several important competitions for young pianists between 2012 and 2013: gold medalist of the “Gina Bachauer Young Artists International Competition” in Salt Lake City (USA), first-prize winner of the “Thomas & Evon Cooper International Competition” in Oberlin and Cleveland and gold medalist of the “Eastman Young Artists International Competition” in Rochester in 2012, and winner of the Yamaha USASU International Competition in Arizona (where he received the prize from Martha Argerich hands), the Aarhus Competition in Denmark and the Hilton Head Competition in U.S.A. in 2013.

Born in 1995 in Altamura (Bari), Leonardo began to study piano at the age of 8. He studied with Pasquale Iannone at the “Niccolò Piccinni Conservatory of Music” in Bari and has attended piano master classes and courses with Aldo Ciccolini and Marisa Somma.

He has been soloist with Cleveland Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic, Israel Symphony, Israel Camerata Jerusalem, National Symphony Orchestra of Chile, Duisburg Philharmonic, Kristiansand Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic and Aarhus Symphony with such conductors as Giordano Bellincampi, Asher Fisch, Frederic Chaslin, Eugene Tzigane, Luigi Piovano.
